Aboriginal Cogeneration Corporation has applied  to create a Gasification/Incinerator that will burn Creosote treated Railroad ties .
This incinerator will run 24/7 and process used Creosote treated Railroad ties from CPR.

We are asking the Kamloops City Council, Ministry of Enviroment  to object to this application for the following reasons and would urge all residents of Kamloops and surrounding areas to do the same.

  • Health – Nano particles & dioxins emitted by incinerators are proven to contribute to infant mortality, cancer, etc…
  • Smell – Whenever something is burned powerful smells will escape and especially in the event of a plant breakdown
  • Tourism - This will do nothing for Kamloops role as a tourist destination.
  • Pollution – 40 foot stack will pollute the air increase the carbon foot print, Fly ash from the incineration process is more toxic than the original waste. The plant will be dumping waste water.
  • Image – The plant will detract from the good work done so far in the town and have a detrimental effect on house prices. Kamloops will be seen as a pollution capital.
  • Technology – This is relatively new technology the long term effects of which have yet to be determined.
  • Recycling – Flies in the face of the zero waste strategies.
  • Economics – It is more expensive to create electricity this way than other methods. It is cheaper to recycle than make from scratch.

We have provided links to useful information should you wish to delve deeper. Please do not sit back and hope it’ll all go away or think there’s nothing you can do about it. IT WON’T and YOU CAN. Please email or write to all your local councillors and the councillors on the planning committee and lodge your objection. If enough of us object we can stop this ruining our town.
